Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed partners Paul Hinton and Ed Baker to join the firm’s Technology, Media, and Telecoms (TMT) team in London.

Both Paul and Ed join from Deloitte Legal and were both former partners of Kemp Little, the specialist tech boutique bought by Deloitte in 2021.

Paul has over 25 years’ experience as a commercial technology lawyer advising on technology and data licensing transactions in the banking sector and for various stock exchanges globally, having started out at the London Stock Exchange. He is a leading legal expert in trading platforms and financial data licensing.

Ed is an experienced commercial technology lawyer focused on complex technology, data and sourcing transactions. He advises both customers and suppliers on a range of technology related matters including the supply and contracting of solutions involving software, cloud services, robotic process automation and artificial intelligence.

Head of Pinsent Masons’ TMT team, Jonathan Kirsop, said: “Paul and Ed’s data licensing and platform experience will enhance our services proposition for the financial services sector and add bench strength to our offering. Their expertise in the deployment and collaboration around Generative AI technologies will benefit our banking and insurer clients, particularly in enhancing and monetising data assets and we will leverage their expertise in other markets and sectors.”

Paul and Ed's appointment is the latest in a series of Technology, Science and Industry (TSI) partner hires for Pinsent Masons in 2023, including Eleanor Ludlam, Jaya Handa and Emily Cox joining the firm in March, July and October respectively.
