Digital Single Market

The Digital Single Market (DSM) strategy, is a wide-ranging group of individual legislative initiatives from the European Commission to adapt the European market to the digital age.

The unifying theme of the DSM is to create a pan-European framework of laws for the digital economy, applying the core principles of a single market: free movement of goods, services, people and capital; fair competition and a well-harmonized and level playing field for all stakeholders.

Legislative initiatives have been agreed between the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. This means that the initiatives by the Commission – once a promise for the far future – have already become or will become reality soon.

DSM means change for all affected businesses, yet it is uncertain whether the remaining initiatives will still be supported or whether there will be a new strategy deepening the DSM strategy.

Our European team of experienced lawyers closely monitor the progress of the DSM strategy and analyse the legal challenges as well as the opportunities.
