Participants attending this two-hour virtual course will be able to:

  • Explain when a fair reason for dismissal is "some other substantial reason" (SOSR) such as to justify dismissal and the practical relevance of this based on real-life examples
  • State the scope for a claim of victimisation arising from a complaint of discrimination and how to minimise the risk of this when dealing with serial complainants
  • Consider whether there is scope to dismiss for SOSR when developing their strategy to respond to serial complainants, personality clashes and demands by third parties.

Content Includes:

  • Guidance on the process that should be followed and relevant factors to consider when dismissing for SOSR
  • An analysis of the Equality Act provisions in relation to discriminatory victimisation - and the difference in practice between a complaint and the manner in which a complaint is brought
